Ancient Mesopotamian Civilization refers to the historical period in the region of Mesopotamia, located in modern-day Iraq, where some of the earliest known human civilizations emerged. This ancient civilization is known for its advancements in writing, mathematics, agriculture, and architecture. Mesopotamian society was organized into city-states, each with its own government and ruler. Additionally, the Mesopotamians were polytheistic, with a complex pantheon of gods and goddesses that were believed to influence every aspect of daily life. This civilization is also credited with the invention of the wheel, the plow, and the first known written legal code, the Code of Hammurabi.
