Ancient Egyptian Ethics

Ancient Egyptian Ethics refers to the moral principles, values, and beliefs that guided the behavior and decision-making of individuals in ancient Egyptian society. These ethics were largely influenced by the teachings of Ma'at, the goddess of truth, justice, and harmony. Central to Ancient Egyptian Ethics was the concept of living in accordance with Ma'at, which emphasized virtues such as honesty, kindness, generosity, and respect for others. Individuals were expected to uphold these values in their interactions with family, community, and the divine. Additionally, Ancient Egyptian Ethics also encompassed beliefs about the afterlife and the importance of leading a virtuous life in order to achieve a favorable judgment in the afterlife.
