African Hippos
African Hippos are large, semi-aquatic mammals native to sub-Saharan Africa. They are known for their massive size, with males weighing up to 3,300 pounds and females up to 2,900 pounds. African Hippos have barrel-shaped bodies, short legs, and large mouths with tusk-like teeth. They are primarily herbivores, feeding on grasses and aquatic plants. African Hippos spend much of their time in water, where they can submerge themselves for up to five minutes at a time. Despite their peaceful appearance, African Hippos are considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, responsible for more human deaths than any other large mammal on the continent.
