African Forest Elephant

The African Forest Elephant is a species of elephant native to the forests of Central and West Africa. They are slightly smaller than their savanna counterparts, with straighter tusks and rounder ears. African Forest Elephants play a vital role in maintaining the health of their forest habitats by dispersing seeds and creating clearings in the dense vegetation. They are currently classified as vulnerable due to habitat loss, poaching for their ivory tusks, and human-wildlife conflict.
