Advanced Placement English
Advanced Placement English courses are rigorous, college-level classes designed to challenge students in the areas of reading, writing, critical thinking, and analysis of literature. These courses typically require students to read a variety of complex texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction, and to engage in in-depth discussions and written assignments that demonstrate their understanding of the material. Students in Advanced Placement English courses are expected to develop advanced skills in literary analysis, interpretation, and argumentation, as well as to demonstrate a mastery of language and style. Successful completion of an Advanced Placement English course can lead to college credit or advanced placement in college-level English courses.
